My wife and I lead a small youth group at our house on Sunday evenings, for any and all local high school students. We don’t have any food fights and we don’t eat crazy tasting things and we don’t play music at decibels that would wake the dead. We have food, fun and fellowship. Our schedule looks something like this; the youth arrive around six o’clock, we eat (sometimes a snack and sometimes a meal), we open God’s Word toge
My almost-favorite Christmas movie (second only to Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer) is The Year Without a Santa Claus. One of the more under-rated films of the puppet based series of Christmas movies, featuring characters like the Snow-Miser, Heat-Miser, and Ignatius Thistlewhite the story opens with a tired and discouraged Santa Claus.
Unless you are Ebenezer Scrooge, Christmas is a wonderful time of the year! Parties with family and friends, traditions galore, special decorations, edible delicacies, festive music, gift-giving, and so much more fill up the December calendar. All the trappings of the Christmas season can help us celebrate the incarnation of the Son of God, but sometimes all that silver and gold distracts us from the birthday boy.
